The ship’s Archivist died last shift. The Bridge calls it an accident. You have one shift to prove it was murder, and to find out what she died to keep secret.
The Archivist is a complete, system-agnostic science-fiction mystery one-shot for a single evening of play. Aboard the generation ship Perennial, three centuries into its voyage to the promised world of Landfall, the careful old Archivist is found dead at the bottom of a shaft, and the case is closed within the hour. You do not believe it. Over one shift, before the body is recycled and the case is sealed, you work the death, recover what she hid, plot the ship’s true course with your own hands, and discover the secret she died for: the Perennial is not going to Landfall, and has not been for a hundred years.
You cannot fix that tonight. But you can prove the murder, look at the truth, and decide what a handful of people do with a secret that could free forty thousand or burn them.
The full scenario (read-aloud pitch, GM truth, cast, a four-movement investigation, the climax and its endings), a GM toolkit for running grounded moral science fiction, and print-ready player handouts.
This single shift is the opening of Landfall: Campaign Codex + GM Kit, the full season where the Archivist’s death was only the first thread and the ship must decide what its people are owed. A perfect, low-cost way to try the world before you run the campaign.
Teen and up. Themes of a killing and a system-wide deception, handled with weight rather than gore. Includes a safety-tools note. A personal-use digital download.
